Disadvantages of Flat Screen TV

While all the world has gone rather level lately, there are some disadvantages of flat screen tv that you should be aware of prior to buying a new television set.

Once those thinner televisions burst onto the scene, many people could not help but rush out and buy one. They’re sleek, sexy, attractive, and altogether better, though there are some slight disadvantages of flat screen tv that you may want to know about. Once you learn what those drawbacks are, you can then decide whether or not this type of television is right for you. To begin, let’s break down those thin televisions into two categories: LCD and plasma.

Some of the problems associated with plasma televisions include: the fact that they tend to include a high “burn-in” effect; they tend to generate a lot of heat; they do not perform well if they are placed in a high altitude setting; they have a short life span; and they are heavier than their LCD cousins. Now, on to those LCD screens. A few issues relating to LCD screens include: they are not great when it comes to portraying black; they do not have a good tracking feature; and some of the pixels inside of the television may burn out (this would mean that the whole screen has to be replaced, since the pixels cannot be repaired individually).

Now, many of the disadvantages of flat screen tv mentioned above are beginning to change. For example, those plasma television companies are working on the burn-in effect, and some LCD companies are trying to get rid of that pixel burn. So, what does this mean for you? In many ways, these television sets are going to change throughout the next five, or so, years. If you buy one of these televisions now, you may regret this decision once the technology has grown. Really, it is up to you, though it is advisable to wait just a few more years.

If you cannot wait any longer, you may have to decide between an LCD and plasma. As you can see, there are drawbacks to both types… so, choose wisely.

In the end, if you want a clearer, sharper, and better picture, you will love your new television set. However, keep those disadvantages of flat screen tv in mind while shopping, and you’ll soon figure out which one is right for you.
